Inside every one of us there is a still, silent, open space that goes on forever. A place where time and space have no importance and no existence. A place where fear has no meaning. A place eternal and alive. A place where there is no loneliness because you are connected to everything that ever was and ever will be. A place where joy and peace constantly arise and are experienced. A place that is beyond a "you" and a "me". It's a place so real and accessible that all we have to do is recognize it.
That place is the true you, the real you.
Your life is supposed to be one of expansion and excitement. With the excitement and innocence of a child is the way we are all supposed to experience our daily lives. It doesn't have to be the chaos that we continually experience.
Most of us come to a point when we ask the age-old question: "Surely this isn't all I'm supposed to be doing. Surely there is another reason for all of this. What is my purpose for being here?" At some point, each person recognizes they have lost their connection to their Truth, recognizes that there must be more.
There is a thread of knowledge that has run through the course of time: the knowledge of the ancients, the wisdom of the enlightened. This one common thread weaves throughout all traditions, beliefs and cultures. In some instances it is the very backbone of a people, in other times and places it has been distorted and almost hidden, but always it has been there. Always, there have been mysteries that shroud the esoteric teachings, the inner teachings. Remote monasteries and ancient civilizations have held these teachings in wholeness and purity until we were again ready to experience them.
Even with this obvious need for peace and harmony for the planet and ourselves, humanity is in a rare position. We have the power of choice. We can continue down the road of destruction or embrace the wisdom as it is revealed to us. We can embrace the reason why we are really here. We can take responsibility for our actions and make the choice for something else, something greater, something extraordinary and perhaps we can remember who we really are.
Most importantly, we can make the choice to live that greatness. It's not some far-off dream, or some hard task. It is our birth right. It's how you should be experiencing your life. It's up to you.
